McNellie’s South Tulsa Textured Surface Wall Mural

mcNelliesSouthWallMural mcNelliesSouthWallMural2A big part of a successful mural installation is setting realistic expectations with the client. We take photographs and detailed measurements then mock up the proposed sign/graphic/vehicle wrap to scale. This gets everyone on the same page from the beginning and gives our installers a clear set of instructions of how to complete the job in the field.
This is a textured surface vinyl applied to a concrete wall at McNellie’s in South Tulsa. Once completed, it gives the appearance that it is actually painted on the wall.

Woody Guthrie Center Kris Kristofferson Exhibit Interior Window Graphics

woodyGuthrieCenter_interiorWindowGoldCutVinyl_KristoffersonExhibit1 woodyGuthrieCenter_interiorWindowGoldCutVinyl_KristoffersonExhibit2These interior window graphics were done with three color cut vinyl – black, turquoise, and simulated Florentine gold vinyl. Throughout the exhibit, turquoise is used to as an accent color for the display signage. This design motif is repeated in the pinstripes that frame in the gold and black lettering. Gold lettering on its own would lack contrast with the clear windows so they are outlined in black vinyl.

There is actual 22 karat to 24 karat gold vinyl available that is often used on fire trucks. However, real gold is rather expensive as you can imagine and the 10-12 year life expectancy would be overkill for this application. To save on costs but still have the same look, we went with a simulated gold vinyl. It is a metallized vinyl film that looks nearly identical to the real thing.

Woody Guthrie Center Kris Kristofferson Exhibit Exterior Window Graphics

woodyGuthrieCenter_exteriorWindows_KristoffersonExhibit2 woodyGuthrieCenter_exteriorWindows_KristoffersonExhibit1Large windows provide an ideal surface to apply vinyl graphics to advertise your business or, in this case, a current promotion or exhibit. These vinyl graphics for the Woody Guthrie Center in downtown Tulsa promote the newest Kris Kristofferson exhibit currently on display.

The client chose to go with a solid vinyl for this application because they are also currently housing a painting by John Cougar Mellencamp that is on display just inside these windows. The solid vinyl restricts the amount of UV light that enters the building so it reduces the chances of the donated painting fading in direct sunlight. As you can see in the second picture, though, the vinyl does not stop all the light from entering the windows but you can no longer see through the glass. For applications when you want to still be able to see through the window to the outside, perforated window vinyl is the material to use.

Woody Guthrie Center Kris Kristofferson Exhibit Interior Wall Mural

woodyGuthrieCenter_interiorWallMural_KristoffersonExhibit1 woodyGuthrieCenter_interiorWallMural_KristoffersonExhibit2Large wall murals can make a big statement to your interior or exterior walls. This 11.5 foot tall by 22 foot wide wall mural for the Kris Kristofferson exhibit at the Woody Guthrie Center really dominates the room! It was applied in 52” wide vertical panels to form the image. The adhesive backed vinyl film works similar to a large decal. Special attention is given to making sure each panel is straight and lines up to adjacent panels correctly. The result is one large seamless image.
